Something of a Record...

 Paul Darnell writes...

Recently came across these 45’s when cleaning out a box of stuff from the old family home at Bexley that I’ve had stored for years.
I seem to remember there was trading of records amongst some of the lads.
You will notice that I seem to have obtained these shall we say cult classics from messers Freestone and O’Dea respectively.

Not sure of the circumstances of the transaction but hopefully I didn’t part with Jimmy Little's Royal Telephone and Little Patti’s Stomping at Maroubra in exchange.

It might jog a few memory cells amongst the lads.
See you at the reunion.

  1. Although I have scant recollection of the Sixties my reliable sources inform me of a Saturday night in 1966 ( when my mum thought I was at The Hurstville Savoy Cinema ) it seems I was at The Albert Palais, Leichhardt with 3 mates watching Johnny Rebb and The Atlantics and they were excellent! However a local Sharpie, supported by 6 pals, took umbrage at my long-haired presence (de rigeur for the era) and my nose collided with his fist, a perfect King Hit; lots of claret on my shirt with epaulletes.
Some sympathetic punters advised us to leave a.s.a.p. We took a taxi to the Lido in the City to watch an Italian Film.
Not my only broken nose in the 60's but probably the best! I still loved that decade!
    Best Wishes to All,
