The 2004 Reunion - Another Success

Saturday 25 September, St George Rowing Club: another great get-together.

If you couldn't get there, be assured, you were missed, and mentioned. Certainly not forgotten. All the apologies and messages of friendship we had received were read aloud to the group, and they added to the warmth and fellowship of the evening. Trevor White's video of the 1999 reunion played continually; the STHS website, with all its images and anecdotes, was available on a laptop computer; The Year 12 1969 class photo scowled at us from on our placemats.

"Was that us? Way back then? And what was that guy's name, again?"
Left to right: Tony Pearsall, Graeme Murphy, Lee Riding, John Booth,
Graham Sephton, Jeff Camarsh. Back to camera: Mark Eastwood.
Note Bill Gray's balloons in STHS colours!
The food was fine, the beer was cold, the lemon squash was tangy, and the room was awash with affection and laughter. For me, as always, it was like finding another forty brothers I'd forgotten. We are already planning the 2009 reunion, which Tom Jones has volunteered to co-ordinate.

We are at an age when commitments seem to control our every waking moment: kids marrying, parents perhaps leaving us for the last time, in addition to professional demands. It may be hard, at present, to find room for an occasion like this, and choosing a date to suit everyone is close to impossible.

Nonetheless, be assured, the reunion spirit is alive. It seems to me we'll always be there for each other. So, see you at the next one... or the one after.
